Mazama Newt 3in Sticker

Found nowhere else on Earth, the Mazama newt calls the crystal-clear waters of Crater Lake home. This remarkable little amphibian evolved in isolation for thousands of years, making it one of Oregon's most unique residents.

Today, it's fighting for survival. Invasive signal crayfish have taken over much of its shoreline habitat, preying on newts, competing for food, and disrupting the delicate ecosystem they once helped keep in balance. Scientists estimate the newt has lost the vast majority of its historic habitat, and conservation partners—including Crater Lake National Park, the Oregon Zoo, and the High Desert Museum—are working together on an emergency breeding and recovery program to help prevent its extinction.

I created this sticker to celebrate one of Oregon's rarest wild neighbors and to share its story. Sometimes the smallest creatures remind us just how special—and fragile—the wild places we love can be. 💙
